The TRIAD
concept is a new social organizational approach that I first heard about
in a TED Talk by Dr. Dave Logan of the University of Southern
California. I am told that he ascribes the concept to his business
partner John King. In any case, I have made the word TRIAD
into a mnemonic for
Three Really Involved And Devoted individuals
which best describes this underlying foundation of social structure. The TRIAD
is analogous to being the quantum physics/sub-atomic particle of
society when compared to the nuclear family. The most elementary units
are, of course, individuals from which arises the need for social
organization.
Until now, the paired system has been the primary foundation for
society. We see this represented in marriage, in the cultural heritage
where "two of every sort" were taken into Noah's Ark, and what became
the traditional 'buddy system' in survival situations, even as Jesus
sent out His teachers two by two (Luke 10:1). As society has expanded
and become more interrelated it is evident that it has evolved to where
it now needs the stronger underlying TRIAD. More secure marriages and dynamic social organizations of every sort can benefit from the TRIAD system.
We will now describe what a TRIAD is - and is not.
1. A TRIAD, as the name implies, is always three individuals.
2. It is always intentional rather than coincidental.
3. It is not just a group - a collection of individuals.
4. It may or may not be a TEAM - that is a group with a common purpose.
Let us build a TRIAD from your perspective.
We will begin the TRIAD with you - NODE A.
We will then add a second person - NODE B.
The line represents the two-way communication between you (A)
and the second person (B).
Now we will add a third person - NODE C.
The new line represents the two-way communication between you (A)
and the third person (C).
A third line represents the two-way communication between (B) and (C).
It is now at this point that the TRIAD principle begins to evolve -
because you (A) are responsible for critiquing and enhancing the communication between (B) and (C).
Equally importantly -
(C) is responsible for critiquing and enhancing the communication between you (A) and (B).
AND -
(B) is responsible for critiquing and enhancing the communication between you (A) and (C).
Your Timing and TRIADs
You have discovered the TRIAD concept
in time to not only be a pioneer in this idea/movement but to also be a
co-inventor of a force which, as it grows and matures, has the potential
to suddenly change the world. What is being presented here is not only
the new idea, but also a new process for the development of the concept
into a movement. While in this book I present what I hope are many
concepts and insights about TRIAD, I do
not mean them to be dogmatic or to sound that authoritative. I hope
that you will remember this warning throughout the book.
What TRIAD becomes will be dependent upon yourself and hopefully millions like yourself. By participating in a TRIAD
you should not only gain immediate LIFE CHANGING positive benefit for
yourself - but also for others. Indeed - it is by benefiting others
that you will gain the most benefit for yourself. In your interaction
with others, your own horizons, perspectives, and potential will be
greatly enhanced.
Now that you have looked at the basic concept - the next step is to form and function as a TRIAD. Suggestions as how to do that are to be found in later chapters. How to spread the TRIAD
idea is just one more thing that we will be developing through this
process. As said before, you are in on the ground floor of an idea that
can quickly change the world.
TRIAD Networking Concept
The following diagram shows the automatic extension that will occur for the single/individual TRIAD described previously. It is because of this automatic self-replicating extension that TRIAD can eventually have world-wide effect rather than just what it brings to the lives of those who first implement them.
In the following diagram, at "A" you are associated with two different TRIADs. and the other members of your original TRIAD are also associated with still other TRIADs. As you see - you can simultaneously be associated with more than one TRIAD.
While in the following diagram we show "A" only being associated with
two different diagrams, it would be possible for "A" to also be a member
of several more.
Each TRIAD of which "A" is a member will have three, and only three, members. However, unbeknownst to "A" the TRIADs of which "A" is a member can be networked to innumerable other TRIADs
in unimaginable ways, and through them to a great host of people.
Throughout the network, as all the individual members of each TRIAD join / form additional TRIADs, the number of links between TRIADs
increases exponentially, and along with it, the networking power and
the positive results that such massive consultation brings.
The increase in networking from what has just been described, is so
immense that it is impossible to show it diagrammatically but this
demonstrates it elementally.
