SAFE Ark Two Newsletter January 6th, 2013 Happy New Year 2013 This newsletter is going to be rushed because I am just so far behind on so many things. Took a day off this week to take my granddaughter for her 20th birthday to see the new (2012) movie musical version of Les Miserables. I go to the rare movie for joyful entertainment so it is a good thing it was a musical or it would have been too depressing for me. The music increased the drama but also was its salvation. I am very glad that I spent an hour studying the plot on Wikipedia before going, otherwise I would not have understood what was going on. I had not seen it before, but now I have seen it at least three times since in my mind's eye. My granddaughter said she enjoyed it, and while I can't be certain about that, I have dreamed about it each night and have thought deeply about it in many ways, of which details I will not go into. However I am going to provide you a link to an entirely different film that is a Propaganda Film by North Korea. As with all propaganda it is based on many accurate facts. On the other hand - it is amazing how it can blatantly ignore the situations in N. Korea that are identical to others that it denounces. More than the pot calling the kettle black. I doubt that it was shown in NK (as it claims). At least not to the general public there. I noted also it made no mention of the Internet - which of course they don't have. Nevertheless, an hour well spent to see a summary of the ills of the West - and the biases of NK towards: freedom of religion Israel freedom of the press The parallels that bother me between the US and NK are: materialism militarism irreligion government manipulation lack of true democracy lack of commitment to helping other countries blindness to world opinion hatred of other groups As much evil as exists in the West, as pointed out in both the NK film and Les Miserables, I must say that I much prefer here than to the atheistic totalitarianism that exists there. Mind you, much of what they attack about religion, I do also. Completely neglecting work on the books/novels this last couple of weeks because of demands of the radio project. Multi-day meeting scheduled this next weekend with Bob and Adam to attempt a bench test and circuit tuning of the four prototype boards. Darlene has also made further progress on the User Interface software but I need to focus on getting rough drafts written of the half dozen accompanying manuals. Much that I could write about regarding where we are standing in mid-air past the fiscal cliff with a chasm looming below us of the 'Debt limit' plus what is happening with the Euro, and in Japan. The Israeli elections are upcoming week after next, along with other happenings there, and of course the Syrian and Iranian situations just plug on along. In the three ring circus that is our world there is also Chavez of Venezuela. Just mentioning all this, so that you don't think I am not aware but I simply have to focus on some of the tasks at hand. Thanks to those of you who took the poll last week, and also to those of you who sent me personal comments. Less than 10% took the poll but the results were: a. The world is about to end - and humankind/society won't survive - and there is no need to worry about any of this. Only 1% - but that figures because generally speaking, what purpose is there in subscribing to a newsletter such as this if one feels that way. This poll certainly doesn't tell us anything about what the general population thinks. b. That Jesus is going to return and establish His Kingdom - so there is no need for us to worry about any of this. Only 7% - and for much the same reasons as the one above. Most people of that inclination can't put up with me and I am very appreciative of those of you who do. c. That the US Constitution was Divinely revealed/inspired and we should simply try to get back to the original intent/purpose. 45% which is almost an even split with those below - and was my main reason for the poll. I am surprised to see that so many still feel that way, especially in the light of the quote from Thomas Jefferson, which I provided. But, I suspected the possibility. d. That the world has radically changed and is about to change even more radically and that we should consider other/new forms of governance in the face of nuclear/modern weapons and the need for world governance/security. 49% Which says that if the poll is representative - that less than half of the readership is really sympathetic with the orientation of this newsletter. It does give me much to ponder - and once again, I thank you for taking the poll. Apologies for the typo regarding my 2014 date in the previous newsletter - but I should point out that the danger is not in that I might be right (that the Great Catastrophe is not going to happen until sometime - it could be years - after July 28th, 2014). The danger is that I might be wrong and that it could happen before. Actually, I am thinking late 2014 or in 2015, but that is just off the wall, because I certainly don't know any dates.
