Quiet World
Busy Week

The world seems quiet. Not sure any better - but by recent standards - quieter.

China and Japan have toned down their threats to shoot each other's ships.

India and Pakistan have toned down their rhetoric about launching nuclear weapons at each other.

Russia may not be delivering S-300s to Syria.

Syria has not threatened to invade Israel for the last couple of days.

Not any unusual noises from Hamas or Egypt from Israel's south.

Israel giving humanitarian care to wounded enemies on its north.

Reports that North Korea has defueled some missiles and is appointing less inflamatory generals.

The Dow at its all time high.

No hurricanes or tornadoes of note during the last week.

No headline terrorist actions or mass shootings during the week.

This certainly seems to be a time to look at the doughnut and not at the hole.

Ahhh sweet Spring.

Okay, I would be hard hearted if I didn't acknowledge:
Bangladesh,
Syria,
Libya,
and a thousand sufferings in the world,
but it has always been a tough world.

Activity at Ark Two

Sort of the same mixture here. Many marvelous things happening - but at the same time seemingly a number of extra challenges.

Substantial Spring snow cover several days this week but last night was the last predicted night of frost and the grass has been growing madly. Jean says it is getting out of hand.

Eight visitors last week and media coming next week. A friend from South America is supposed to arrive today but I haven't heard from him yet. With all the things needing to be done we need about twenty people to show up and help for a week. Not much chance of that unless the Great Catastrophe occurs right now.

Still have the fire going in the stove although it it isn't taking a lot of wood to stay warm. Water pump stopped working but Fred stayed overnight and got us going the next day.

Progress on Radio

On Sunday, Darlene and Fred made substantial advances when they came for five hours consultation on Sunday about the radio software. Well, really - Darlene does it all but I appreciate Fred coming by for morale support. Darlene's accomplishment in this area will be historically praised if we are successful in getting the SAFE Ham Net established. I think that her program looks absolutely super. There will be lots of opportunity for you to learn to use it.

There is nothing anyone will have to buy to use the SAFE EMS (Emergency Messaging System). We will give away the software and it will work with any XP compatible computer and any full blown Ham radio. One really only needs in addition a special antenna which they can build out of parts that they can obtain locally for less than ten dollars.

For those who do not want to go the expense of buying a full blown Ham radio, and the effort to get a ham license, and to learn a complicated system, we hope to have the SAFE Transceiver. When I started out on this we thought it would take a couple of months - but already it has taken a couple of years.

Progress on the Radio Manual

Those of you who have offered to edit the radio manual - I haven't forgotten you. It was just that more changes came up from the meeting with Darlene and Fred and with what Dave is working on plus the 45 minute telephone conference with Carlton while Darlene and Fred were here - that I have had to do over more before sending it to you.

Big Opportunity to Boost Our Cause

Big opportunity may be upcoming for those of you who would like to give our cause a big boost. We have never had a great splurge of interest. We thought we might have twenty thousand new enrollments the first night that National Geographic ran. We had twenty. Period. Although they have rerun it many times and overall there may have been a few hundred. Builds very slowly.

I was hoping thousands would read Society AFTER Doomsday. Only a few hundred. I had said that I wouldn't put it out as an E-book because I wanted people to have the printed plan in their hand when the need arose. That isn't working out - so change of strategy and we will put it out as an E-book so that hopefully more will at least read it.

Moreover, a new strategy to put it onto Amazon and have gotten Scott, an Amazon expert, to guide us through. He is talking with Pierre about how to get it publicity on Facebook. I have heard of 99cent books on Amazon and I said that if I had it, I would PAY the million dollars, if I could get a million to read the book.

However, after much discussion, Scott thinks the right place to position it is at 3.99. Now here is the deal. As a promotion, Amazon lets you give it away free for five days. One gets to do this for 5 days total - and Scott wants to do it for 3 days to begin with. The idea is to get people to read it and write reviews of it.

Amazon lets you for FREE download onto your computer their Kindle reader so that you can read any of their books there that you should get free or happen to buy. So this is going to cost you nothing. If all this happens, I will give you advance warning so that you can go into Amazon and open an account, if you don't have one already, and then during the two day window download "Society AFTER Doomsday" and write a review about it.

New Video on YouTube

Some projects do finally get completed. We laid a really heavy one onto Victoria about the KI video - but it is finally done. You want you to be sure to WATCH IT. Victoria likes to have people join the YouTube Channel and leave comments. Eventually we hope to be able to give a lot more explanation there about the radio.

Challenge of the Moment

Another challenge at the moment, is getting the new US National Coordinator up to speed. Wendy is having to reimplement the membership database system and we are now missing TEAM Leaders for Indiana, Nebraska and North Dakota. Their phones aren't working so I don't know what happened to them. If you live in one of those three states please send an email and your phone number right away to Christopher so that he will have for his start-up a full contingent in all 50 US states.

Christopher will also need to appoint a new coordinator for Canada and the next big step will be filling in the District TEAM Leaders. Lots of activity and things we are needing to get done.

Below is a new feature that we are starting now, and Christopher may have something to say in each newsletter.

Peace and love,
Bruce

Greetings SAFE Community! My name is Christopher Verreos and I am the new National Coordinator for SAFE, USA.

It's a great honor to work with such a dedicated and outstanding team who are making a tremendous positive contribution to promoting reasonable and responsible civic action in the field of national preparedness! In my own eyes, I'm a relatively average suburbanite living in "earthquake central" and a member of my local CERT organization.

I decided to contact Bruce when no one else stepped forward to volunteer. Like everyone else, I suppose, we all have lots of good reasons why we don't get involved. Now that I'm here, it will be a top priority to facilitate the SAFE program among State Team Leaders. There's so much going on! You could say that our country's officials are doing their best, however, as most of us painfully know, the political environment and the huge bureaucracy are not sufficiently capable to ensure your or my family's success in stormy times! At this point, what do we do?

Network! SAFE network! When you've been hit with a tornado, a blizzard, a wildfire, a gigantic dust storm, a flood, an earthquake, a large power failure, or fall out from your local nuclear power plant gone berserk; it's simply too late to argue politics, religion, or a whole bunch of other stuff! That's where the SAFE agenda kicks in! We're NOT starting from scratch. We have the needed info. We have the key networking framework. We have the resources. We have to work together to benefit as many as possible - TEAM!

We've got a great website, Facebook page, AND YouTube videos to refer people to. We are steadily making progress with the radio network among many other projects. I look forward to working with everyone to develop constructive, law abiding solutions to our needs. As I'm fond of saying: "Those who fail to prepare will only have one thing to share with neighbors when disaster strikes - their misery!" Be SAFE!

Peace & Action,
Christopher
