In the Good Old Summertime
Delightful Days of Summer:
But that is a Northern viewpoint. Elsewhere it is scorching. Light rain
in the early morning here. Just enough to make the air exceptionally
clean and fresh.
But that is a rural viewpoint. Smog so thick in China that anymore many
there don't know what fresh air is like. Here, calm enjoyable and quiet.
But that is a small village viewpoint. Some like our family in Taiwan
live in the continuous din of the city. Peaceful and secure where we are
here.
But that is a Canadian viewpoint. Egypt, Syria, Afghanistan, Brazil,
Argentina and so many more in turmoil that they don't even make
headlines in the MSM. Many died yesterday in Mexico, throughout South
America, in Africa and the Middle East and even China of which my
correspondents are generally unaware.
But that is a North American viewpoint. Delightful breakfast this
morning of strawberry waffles, dog and cat now napping nearby. Life is
bounteous and pleasurable.
But that is a retired viewpoint. Life is such a struggle for so many
with unemployment and families to provide for. Others struggle with
severe bodily ailments but we with only one fatal one and that is age.
But that is an Octogenarian's viewpoint. Others find death threatening
but we find life as having been meaningful and the hereafter promising.
But that is the viewpoint of one who has traveled the spiritual path. So
in these delightful days of summer we watch the world in turmoil
elsewhere and are so grateful for the innumerable gifts that God has
bestowed upon us in family, friends, education, location and awareness
of some His bounties.
But that is viewpoint here at Ark Two and unfortunately not that of many others.

Here at Ark Two
A bounty yesterday as 22 came to help. Lots accomplished. Got in 80
percent of the first load of wood for the coming winter. Trimmed the big
tree. Took off the storm windows and put up the screens. Washed the
windows and re-hung the washed drapes. Watered the batteries and stacked
the firewood by the big stove. Cleaned Jean's kitchen and our front
walk and steps.
Che who brought the group, provided them with a Chili lunch and split
them into two groups. One to work at the house while the other did
prepper things with him for a couple of hours - and then they traded
off. We could use help like this every week but it is super that he can
bring them every three or four months.
Tragedy of the bees
Last couple of years we were spared when others around us were struck by
colony collapse. Struck here this year. Only 36 hives alive this spring
out of 231 for our beekeeper. I guess all 22 hives on our property must
not have made it - but he didn't say specifically.
37 Million bees died at one Ontario location alone.
We have been very concerned about preserving the bees. Our beekeeper is
the president of the Ontario Beekeepers Association. He was trained by
Robert whose family had been doing it for three generations. Robert was
the foremost authority on the subject that I have known. He retired last
year.
He was helping us build a bee preservation room in the shelter. It has a
cooler in it so that we can put the bees into hibernation. He was
maintaining, and we were going to preserve, eleven strains of bees.
Gone.
A number of years ago Robert told me that in 1923, Rudolf Steiner, a
scientist, philosopher & social innovator, predicted that in 80 to
100 years honeybees would collapse.
I finally bought Steiner's book and have been reading it. Cost seven
dollars but one can't download it and has to read it in the cloud. I
don't really like this way.
Doesn't let one go to a particular page. Can't copy a paragraph to paste
it elsewhere. I got a free note taking program, but it is either no
help or I can't figure out how to use.
The book is quite mystical, but I do find some astounding stuff in it.
Reading in the book where an expert beekeeper challenges Steiner that he
couldn't know that the bees would disappear in a hundred years.
Steiner's reply: "You are quite right Mr. Mueller. Check back with me in
a hundred years and we will see what your opinion is then."
There is a quote famously attributed to Einstein: "If the bee disappears
from the surface of the earth, man would have no more than four years
to live." Unfortunately, it doesn't pass the Snopes test. Nevertheless,
the concept is taken as gospel by those in the bee industry. Maybe not
four years or even forty. But eventually.
Latest buzz is that Putin has warned that Russia will go to war with the
US over the bee colony collapse if the US doesn't stop protecting GMO
and Monsanto. Again this doesn't pass the Snopes test.
Nevertheless, the bees have died and I don't know what to do about it.
Our beekeeper seems to be in such complete shock that I can't get a
clear answer from him.
The Radio
As you all know - I reported that the radio had died last week. Received
tracking notice that the carcass had passed customs at 12:15 noon on
Friday - so it should be arriving back here early next week.
Resurrection will require a miracle. I have of course been working on
'Hail Marys' left and right. Do have an inkling that a miracle may be
possible. Will give it a few days to develop before mentioning it - if
it does come to light - because I wouldn't want to jinx it.
SAFE Organization
Christopher is working on getting the organization more up to speed. The
main thing needed at the moment is for Jonathan and Nick, the database
managers, to develop a database system. Wendy has gotten the database
creation program working perfectly, so far as I can tell, but there need
to be developed procedures now for manipulating and maintaining it. I
do hope that they will get that together in the next couple of weeks.
In the meantime, if you are willing be a very active participant in the
SAFE organization - please let me (or Christopher know) and we will see
that you get slotted in. If you aren't willing to be very active - it
won't be long before you are asked to fill an organizational slot
anyway. Although it is not my decision, my position is that we are
coming to the point that people who are not willing to help and
participate in the SAFE organization should be eliminated from the list.
We don't need people who are just hangers on and only concerned about
their own self-interest. The principle behind SAFE is that it is a
Divine decree that all are supposed to be of service to others. As more
accept that principle, over the Ayn Rand philosophy of the present day,
the world will become peaceful, plentiful and Just. The idea is to
encourage the Divine Principle.
I am writing another book.
The working title is:
The Most Important Date in History
and the Newton Connection.
The Age of Wisdom View of Reality.
There are some people who have heard the thesis before, who I am going
to ask to critique the book, but I would be glad to send it to anyone
who would be willing to read and critique it. Please just let me know.
I would particularly appreciate suggestions for a cover. I have been
able to come up with no idea of what the cover should be like.
Upcoming week
Coming week is an anticipated one. Friends coming Kansas. Just staying
briefly. As someone was saying this weekend - what we need is someone
who can help Jean, to come and stay permanently. At our age we have to
take a driving examination every other year. Jean takes it this year and
I take it next. Jean doesn't hear hardly at all, and I am blind in one
eye, so we are concerned.
It has been a blessing after all these years to have a reliable car. We
don't drive any long trips and it sometimes sits a full week without
being moved at all, but being out here in the country we will feel
really trapped if we can't drive.
It is live on TV
Doing something that I haven't ever done before, and that is watching a
trial live on TV. I think this one is of great social significance. Very
interesting in many ways. The jurors are all women. The judge is a
woman. The bailiffs who lead in the witnesses are women. The court
reporters are women. Only one of the lawyers is a woman but a number of
the key witnesses such as the ambulance attendant, and the Neighborhood
Watch supervisor have been women.
I seem to have just tuned in at almost all the key moments. I felt the
move for dismissal by the Defense was very well put, but the decision
had been made ahead of time that the case would be go on. It is a great
show trial costing multi-millions. The prosecution didn't want to
prosecute in the first place, but the political decision was made that
it would be cheaper to put on the circus than to rebuild the cities from
riots.
From the State's point of view the ideal would be a conviction for
something which could then go to appeal - which could take forever to
permit tempers to die down. The defendant could even be out on bail
during appeal - but I don't know what will happen. So much of the world
today is just a circus and a show. Perhaps it has always been that way.
Peace and love,
Bruce

Greetings SAFE Team!
Do we have a clear idea of our purpose within SAFE, or are we running
scared? Do we have weekly, monthly, and seasonal goals for our families,
friends, and our networks, or are we tossed back and forth by every bad
news report? I am asking myself these questions for a reason.
|
The number and type of threats we face as a nation are both diverse and quickly increasing.
Don't panic. Exercise your faith. Exercise your network. Exercise your SAFEty!
I recently received a great email from Jim, Mississippi's State Team
Leader. One of his solutions is inspired by one of Bruce's original
projects called "The Paper": Be prepared to give people the essential
information they need as they need it, when (or right before) a disaster
strikes.
This is a great action plan for us to follow! It does not need to be a
"top down" effort. Any State Team Leader, or District Leader, or SAFE
member can either develop or cut and paste their own "data sheets" for a
few topics of vital concern: safe water preparation & storage,
medical & first aid, food production & storage, communication,
personal safety, etc.
These would not be some sort of official SAFE publications, however,
they can be tailored to your specific area or locale, printed on a
single sheet, with optional contact or resource info along the lines of
basic civil defense material. AND, our SAFE website has tons of
resources to choose from that can help. Simple and effective solutions.
Go for it!
Peace & Action,
Christopher
