Season of Sadness
We do seem to be entering a season of sadness. Already, there has been
Sandy and Sandynook in the US but with a more global view we see riots
in the EU, social collapse in Syria, and political unrest in Egypt. The
Muslim Brotherhood is gaining power in Egypt and with Hamas in Gaza,
much to the chagrin of Iran and the Shiites who are supporting Hezbollah
in Syria and Lebanon. Neither are the bearers of good news for Israel.
January 1st Fiscal Cliff, plus Euro December 31st deadline, plus looming
economic collapse in Japan, plus Iskanders shipped by Russia into
Syria, and Patriots shipped by the US into Turkey, plus Iran helping
North Korea with its Missile technology and North Korea helping Iran
with its Nuclear technology, and Pakistan, Afghanistan, and, and, and -
as the man says - "What could possibly go wrong?"
The Good News:
The media tell us that there is good news in that the number of
"foreclosure start proceedings" have dropped to the lowest number in
five years. Perhaps that is because so many foreclosure proceedings have
already been started in the last five years, added to so few new
mortgages under the current downturn, and it all says nothing about the
total number of foreclosure proceedings under way or whether the number
of mortgage holders in arrears is increasing or not.
Continuing the good news:
The media tells us that there were more jobs created last month than in
many past months, but the sources that I read didn't tell me whether
that was seasonally adjusted for the Christmas season hires, or whether
the number near equaled the number of people born in that month 20 years
(okay - so those should still be in college) let us say 30 years ago.
In reality the issue is what is the percentage employed of just say
white males (to eliminate a lot of other factors) born in that month 30
years ago. And we do have that number. The lowest it has been in fifty
years since they have started keeping that statistic. Not called
unemployed, however. Just not working.

Still with the more good news.
Unemployment is expected to drop drastically in January because we don't
count people as being unemployed unless they are drawing unemployment
and the EUC (Extended Unemployment Compensation) program is going to end
January 1st for over two million people. It is anticipated this will
apply to a total of 3 million as a similar basic program ends by March.
Not just 3 million that will be hurting because there are families and
sometimes multiples of children for whom that was their basic source of
income. And then there is the multiplier effect because merchants,
producers, etc. down the line will have reduced income resulting from
the above reduced expenditures.
Still in our good news column:
- some may wonder why the Dow doesn't die. It is because it is totally
manipulated and has now been on life support almost forever by the same
powers that control, so far, the big banks and the Federal Reserve. I
say "so far" because control is eventually lost of all such systems and
the old saying still applies - "The bigger they are - the harder they
fall."
So - the good news is:
Everything is hanging in rather stabile until we get through Christmas,
this season of sadness, and the first of the year, in spite of all the
Mayan 2012 talk. Before the current winter solstice concern, the ancient
warning was about the Ides of March, but mine is about the Ides of
February, which actually falls on February the 13th. I can't make up the
calendar or I would have moved the 13th to Friday. Sometimes reality
just doesn't match poetry.
Lots of good news from here. The PC boards for 4 radio prototypes are
due to ship to us this week on the 19th. A check has arrived from Leslie
to cover the parts and if UPS does its thing, Adam hopes to assemble
them over Christmas. Parts are also supposed to be on their way by USPS
for one of our two main generators that are down. We are hoping that
they arrive in time so that we can get the one up for the three groups
coming for what one person calls "the end of the world party" - for
which some are supposed to start arriving on the 20th. My little day
surgery thing for the skin cancer is scheduled for the 19th also, so
with lots of things like this we have a very busy week upcoming. The
first of the year will be here in no time.
Today, Victoria has ready the promised YouTube Ark Two #17 on Using a Dosimeter.
She feels that I am dull in this one - but I feel that the old
professor is putting across the facts that he wants those that have the
dosimeters to understand. I hope all of you that do have them will
watch, and it should be quite a few because of the time that we made a
group purchase. So the time has come to review how to use them.

let me know. Probably won't be as exciting as our Y2K party when we
were raided by over 40 government raiders which was more than double the
number of attendees that we had otherwise.
