The first portrayal to which I referred
characterized Hamlet as the Joker
in the Arkham Mental Institution.
It has long disappeared from the Internet -
and how that is even possible -
I don't know.
It may have been too powerful.
I remember an account that the Australian actor's parents -
had it removed -
after the actor committed suicide.
Also, after the filming The Dark Knight in 2008,
Heath Ledger, died of a sleeping pill overdose,
attributed to his playing the role of The Joker.
And Jack Nicholson, who played The Joker in 1989
is reported to having nearly driven himself off a cliff
during his portrayal of the role.

It is dangerous to tamper with the dark forces.
But many do.
In fact most of our society
has gone over to the dark side -
although those who have most slipped away -
will be those to most strongly deny it.
When I tell people that it is for this reason -
that the Wrath of God -
is about to descend upon humanity -
they cannot at all comprehend the nature of the evil.
Mind you -
I do not judge or address individuals in this way -
but speak only of the generalities of our society as a whole.
For individuals, in a moment
I shall address the greatest
and unforgiveable sin -
but for the moment I am going to try
to distinguish some of the forms of evil.
That is to explain some terms -
that are apparently confusing to most people.
Most people realize -
that to break The Ten Commandments -
is considered sin.
One of those commandments is:
Exodus 20:7
Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain;
for the LORD will not hold him guiltless
that taketh his name in vain.
Years ago - parents simply told their children
that they should not curse or swear.
(I won't go into the distinction between the two.)
But today we continuously hear -
obscenity/profanity/blasphemy -
and I am astounded how many don't know the difference.
Obscenity is indecency, lewdness, or offensiveness
in behavior, expression or appearance.
It is often related to sexual matters -
and many would consider pornography an obscenity.
The use of the "F" word is most usually an obscenity.
Obscenity can take many other forms.
There are often obscenity laws regarding
disrespect for dead bodies -
or desecration of tombstones.
Profanity, on the other hand,
is more than being just vulgar -
it is rather
to treat something sacred with abuse,
irreverence, or contempt
or to desecrate it.
Most often we see/hear profanity in the form of
the taking of the name of the LORD or God in vain.
How many times do those in certain circles hear
or see the expression OMG,
or "Jesus Christ" -
expressed in terms of less than total reverence.
That is using the terms
in a manner that is lacking substance or worth -
and is called vain talk -
or taking those Names in vain.
Western Christian culture
broadly embodies the concept of a Trinity.
The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit
(or The Holy Ghost).
This greatly disturbs Muslims in their monotheism
because they think that is a a triad of three separate gods,
but Christianity views it as one God in three persons.
The point here is that
while one often hears "OMG",
or the name of "Jesus Christ" profaned -
when did you ever hear anyone profane the name of
the Holy Spirit or the Holy Ghost?
The reason for this is THAT is considered -
the UNFORGIVEABLE sin.
Matthew
12:31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be
forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not
be forgiven unto men.
:32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be
forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall
not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to
come.
We shall return later
to the meaning of this.
Now, back to the Black Knight.
And - Where was God?
Indeed.
While I have not watched the movie -
I am told that it contains profanity -
which would not surprise me -
because many do today.
That is acceptable to those who watch them.
They pay money to hear it.
If one is going to pay money -
to hear the Name of the Lord taken in vain -
it is curious that they might then turn around and ask -
"Where was God?"
People have turned away from God -
and while God has not turned away from mankind -
still He can do nothing for them -
when they have turned their backs on Him,
and do not follow His guidance -
which begins with:
Exodus 20:7
Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain;
for the LORD will not hold him guiltless
that taketh his name in vain.
Those who have followed the path of the Joker -
have no awareness of the presence of God.
The attacker (terrorist) in Colorado -
dressed up as the Joker.
Since this most recent Colorado event
there have been incidents in
Maine, Arizona, and California.
In each case the media identified
the 'persons' being reported - as "men".
Women are persons also.
This is nothing except sexual profiling against men,
and they should have only said "person".

Terrorism
vs
Martyrdom
Was the attacker a terrorist?
Not sure.
Terrorism refers to the use of violence
for the purpose of achieving a
political,
religious, or
ideological goal.
For sure - no terrorists are martyrs.
A martyr is a person who chooses
to suffer or die rather than give up
their faith or
principles.
A martyr is NOT someone who chooses to kill others -
especially innocent others
by blowing themselves up with a bomb
in a pizzeria or school or at a bus stop -
killing even children and unborn children
along with their pregnant mothers.
I doubt that the likes of Holmes and BTK
even fit into the category of 'terrorist',
although
Timothy McVeigh (OKC Murrah Building) and
George Metesky (Mad Bomber)
probably do.
Most homegrown US terrorists are
white,
male,
and many are religiously motivated.
In my view -
they are sociopaths (without conscience),
no matter how fervently they may proclaim
that God has called them to act in this matter.
Some will say that they have fallen under the influence of:
Satan
Beelzebub
Lucifer
Mephistopheles
Prince of Darkness
Old Nick
The anti-Christ
No matter how one personalizes it-
it remains that they are
an individual
or society
that has turned away from God
and that will receive Divine Retribution and Chastisement.
While I do not subscribe to a particular entity -
called Satan -
there are many who are satanic.
Such malicious/malevolent forces are found even in nature in
whirlwinds,
earthquakes,
volcanoes,
tornadoes,
tsunamis.
Faced with these -
is an excellent time to find a fortress -
in the Holy Spirit.
All are tested.
The very best thrown into prisons -
and put on crosses.
However, if one finds themselves in
the Lion's Den with Daniel -
it is best not to tickle the tiger.
And that is exactly what people are doing today.
They are living in the most malevolent of times -
when the whole of humanity has turned from God -
and the forces of evil are arising around them.
Yet they choose to tickle the tiger by
ignoring the prime directives from God -
and participate in the profaning of His Name.
The meaning of name -
is not what most people think.
It is not a matter of syllables or sounds -
but rather the essence of a thing.
By what sounds you call God or Jesus -
(and they vary from language to language -
and from culture to culture)
the key is to recognize the essence behind it.
And this brings us to the Holy Spirit -
and the greatest sin.
Profanation against the Holy Spirit -
taking the Name of the Holy Spirit in vain -
is taking Its essence vain.
The essence of the Holy Spirit -
is that still small voice that we hear within
(but that comes from without)
that tells us to be meek and listen for the Truth.
So long as one does that -
they will eventually find the Truth -
and be what we call saved -
providing that they are obedient unto it.
However, failure to listen to the Holy Spirit
is the one thing that will prevent one
from attaining the Truth -
and that is why that action is unforgiveable.
One of the foremost markers of those
who blaspheme against the Holy Spirit
is that of anger (and also fear).
This anger is expressed in all sorts of prejudices:
racial -
class -
political -
nationalistic -
religious.
When people attack me
and tell me -
that I am not
American
Christian
Saved
that I am possessed by Satan
and so forth -
I usually notice that they have
a lot of anger in their lives -
and I wonder
(although it is not mine to judge)
whether they are truly hearing the Holy Spirit.
When we are in the den -
facing the lions and tigers -
then is not the moment to get angry.
Then is the time to find
calm/centeredness/peace in the Holy Spirit -
and to realize that God is ALL powerful -
which is to say these other forces -
are but illusions/delusions/counterfeit
with no more real power to stop the Light and Heat
than does darkness and cold -
which are simply the absence of Light and Heat.
Then is the time to turn to the First Commandment -
and to have no other gods than God -
because God is the One, the all powerful, -
and the only way that those false entities
such as Satan can have any power -
is if we give it to them.
Remain open to the Holy Spirit -
and carefully examine anything that claims to be good,
for only then can you find good new ideas -
otherwise, being close minded and dogmatic,
one has actually blasphemed against the Holy Spirit.
I know that people do not like me to write
in this vein -
and I shall try to deal with other subjects -
in the next few newsletters.
Peace and love,
Bruce
